China's first linear-type field-reversed configuration commercial controlled nuclear fusion company
HHMAX-ENERGY (Chengdu) Technology Co., Ltd was established on December 30, 2022, as China's first commercial company specializing in linear field-reversed configuration controlled nuclear fusion. It focuses on R&D of field-reversed configuration devices and their supporting plasma sources and diagnostic systems—both hardware and software—to provide cost-effective, highly reliable core components and comprehensive solutions for future commercial fusion power reactors. Simultaneously, it develops intermediate neutron source products through fusion research for applications in medical isotopes, boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), neutron imaging, and nuclear waste processing, thereby realizing partial commercial value in advance.

  • By utilizing the interaction between the magnetic field generated by the plasma itself and an external magnetic field, a closed ring structure is formed to confine the plasma, thereby creating fusion reactions to generate electricity.
  • Deuterium/deuterium-tritium is heated to plasma conditions, with magnets confining the plasma in a field reversal configuration (FRC).
  • Accelerate two FRCs from both ends of the generator to one million miles per hour, causing them to collide at the center.
  • When FRCs collide at the system center, they are further compressed by a powerful magnetic field until they reach fusion temperatures exceeding 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV).
  • At this temperature, the movement of deuterium and tritium becomes sufficiently rapid to overcome the forces separating them, allowing them to fuse together. This enables the release of more energy than is consumed by the fusion process itself.
  • As the plasma expands, it pushes back against the magnetic field of the machine's magnets. According to Faraday's law, the changing field induces a current, which is directly recaptured as electricity. This allows us to bypass the traditional steam cycle and obtain electrical output directly.

Commercialization Path
HHMAX-ENERGY adopts a business model of monetizing by-products along the way. Before achieving power generation, the team first utilizes the high-flux fusion neutron source products generated during the fusion process. These are applied in fields such as industry testing platforms, nuclear medicine, neutron irradiation, neutron imaging, and environmental protection.
Achieve commercial grid-connected power generation from controlled nuclear fusion and provide comprehensive solutions for fusion energy. We anticipate achieving an energy output of approximately 10 megawatts by 2028, marking the commencement of commercial energy operations.
